Established in 1968 in Williams, Arizona, Civitan Foundation, Inc. is now a Phoenix based 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to delivering superior life experiences to children and adults with disabilities. Founded as the first residential summer camp experience open to individuals of all abilities, Civitan has expanded to provide statewide high-quality programs that focus on education, nutrition & health, life skills, socialization, job training, employment and respite, habilitation, plus attendant care services.

The mission of Civitan Foundation, Inc. is to provide our community an accessible, safe, and affordable environment while delivering superior life experiences to enhance the quality of life for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

Civitan delivers a variety of specialized programs and services to meet the ever-changing needs of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Serving over 300 individual members per day, we are recognized as a community leader in dynamic, purposeful, and impactful programs and services that promote independence, community integration and a healthy lifestyle.

Something about the vision of leadership for Civitan

Dawn Trapp

Chief Executive Officer

After serving the organization in a volunteer capacity, in 2001 Dawn Trapp founded and was elected the first Executive Director of what is now known as the Civitan Foundation, Inc. Since that time, Dawn has transformed Civitan from a single-service, single-location volunteer organization to a multi-faceted enterprise which offers programs and services to individuals with developmental disabilities throughout the state of Arizona. Dawn is a strong leader in the nonprofit world, and is an active volunteer, fundraiser, community collaborator, board member, and successful entrepreneur. She is fueled by a tireless passion and vision for Civitan and the individuals we serve, and is constantly seeking out ways to propel the organization forward.
